National Teaching Fellowship
I got news today that I have been awarded a National Teaching Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy. There's a glitzy award ceremony in London in September, and a £10,000 prize for spending on "professional development in teaching and learning and aspects of pedagogy".

1st-year Field Course
Despite some wet and windy weather the Physical Geography students did well on their field course and even seemed to be enjoying themselves: but then, what's not to enjoy about doing physical geography on the beach? For me it was a busy week of teaching, and was followed by busy weeks of marking and having meetings, but summer is now coming over the horizon with opportunities for getting down to more substantial work projects.
