The Isles of Scilly

The Queen of the Isles

Photo c.1965, C.G.Knight

The Queen of the Isles

The Queen of the Isles
Is lost to us now
Down the long slow draw
Of a jade and turquoise tide
Through sea-summer dreams
In heather and gold,
But the salt spray sails
Call her back.

Mincarlo, Hanjague,
Rosevean, Spanish Ledge
With the wave rolled bell,
Kodachrome gulls on the green
Over Porthcressa Bay
With the warm white sand,
And the salt spray sails
Call her back.
